My Perfect Miku Game
I've been a big fan of Hatsune Miku for roughly 8 years, starting when I was introduced via the Nintendo 3DS game "Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX". It was a gift to the at the time not-very-interested-in-games me (if it wasn't Tomodatchi Life or Hohokum, that is), and it was as much of an instant love for me then as it is now, remaining one of my all time favorite games. It's inspired a surprising amount of my taste in music, and led me to play "Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix" that later came out on the Nintendo Switch.
However Mega Mix, which remains the newest installment in the series (not including the + version of the game that later released on PC, or Project SEKAI) released in 2020, 6 years ago as of February 13th. The previous game ("Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone DX" on the Playstation 4) was released 3 years prior. So we're due for another game, especially considering the Switch 2 is out and Miku is on tour again.
With the hopes that at some point we'll get another game, here's my must have list of songs I would love to be in it. And because I think its insane there's never been any Kasane Teto songs in any of the previous rhythm games, those will be here too.
- First and foremost, Kimi No Taion by KuwagataP. A top 3 favorite song of all time for me. The aesthetic of the video is perfect and the song it's self is criminally underrated.
- Electric Angel by Yasuo-P, because it's a good song and unbelievably fun to play (on any difficulty).
- BRING IT ON by Giga, also because it's stupidly fun to play.
- Finder by livetune. First vocaloid song I ever heard or played, and remains one of the best. Livetune is also one of the greatest vocaloid artists in my opinion, so it would be a shame to not include it.
- World's End Umbrella by Hachi, because it's a great song, but also because the animation video in the past few games it's been in is absolutely fantastic. The story is good, and it gives me Castle in the Sky vibes.
- Kokoro by Toraboruta-P, solely for the animation video (but the song is pretty good too). I was pissed that the song was in Mega Mix, but the animation from Mirai DX was scrapped. If a 3DS game can bring it's all and make a killer animation video for it, an upscaled Switch version 100% can do more than the lame one they made instead. So when I list this one, I list the better version of it, not the newer and undeniably worse version.
- shake it! by emon. It's light, it's happy, and I think no list would be complete without it.
- Young Girl A by siinamota. Fantastic song, and I think it's important to remember the artist. Not in any of the games so far, but has been played live in concert at the Miku Expos, which gives me hope it might be in the next game.
- Mesmerizer by DECO*27. Not currently in any of the games due to it's more recent release. Very popular within the fandom, and for good reason.
- Static by FLAVOR FOLEY. FF is a very quickly rising artist, and for very good reason. Also not currently in any of the games but really should be. The aesthetic this song and video have is 10/10.
- Literally anything from the album Constant Companions by Jamie Paige. I'm very bias towards Clouddrop because I think it has one of the greatest drops of any vocaloid song and the message is really impactful, but songs like BIRDBRAIN or Machine Love would be 100% fine in my book as well. Jamie Paige is one of my all time favorite artists, I'd be happy with anything of her's being in the next game.
While I could no doubt keep going for another 50 songs on the list, this hits the most important ones for me at least. This isn't discounting any of the other songs that have been in the games or might be someday, these are just the ones I would be sad to not see in the next game. Cross your fingers and maybe we'll get another game in the next year or so, and I'll be here holding out hope it's got at least some of these in it.
